Learning about the Dorset culture. What do you mean that a whole culture just vanishes from the archaeological and genetic record with no one knowing what happened to them?? What do you mean their mitochondrial DNA has no modern descendants??

@abolisyonista that's how many ancient societies go. The ones we know more about are the lucky ones.

There's this notion (maybe conspiracy) that there could be older civilizations but we
only see ones that would not have been scoured clean by glaciers.

@pkw @ch0ccyra1n How would that work, mechanically? I thought melting glaciers are revealing preserved archaeological sites rather than wiping them clean.

Again this might be conspiracy a little, but it's fun to think about.
I tried to find my source after posting.
But the idea is that it's not the melting but the formation.
For example a glacier expands across the middle of the US ...
Any civilations on flat plain areas will be like sanded off by the glacier,
or at least moved so much to be incomprehensible.
