used tria 4x from ebay is starting to show good results. today i really started to see the upper lip and chin hairs fall out, about 1 week out from a big batch of around ~120 pulses on max power. even with otc lidocaine extremely painful. i've been doing smaller targeted batches of 20-30 tria 4x pulses each day plus ipl to wash the whole area and make sure any damaged follicles don't have a chance to repair.

the first big batch of pulses i think it didn't do anything because i didn't get the hair shaved down close enough. another thing i discovered is that to get the "good beep" where it actually kills the follicles you need to press the laser gun into your skin with some force. if you get the "bad beep" it will still be just as painful but might not do anything. it's been very hard to psychologically manage pressing something so painful into my skin.

this is easily the most pain i've ever experienced. but it's also not very painful outside of the upper lip, chin, and neck. anyways all that equipment is around the cost of 1 or 2 professional sessions, i don't need to go anywhere, and i can do much smaller but more frequent batches to spread out the pain.

i also tried some of the bird chili/ghost pepper hot sauce i made that i pour on everything as a topical anesthetic and it was similar potency to the otc 4% lidocaine. faster acting too.

and this is all with light skin, dark hair with very thick androgenized facial hair follicles. my skin is pretty resistant to sunburns and doesn't seem to be affected by laser pulses much so i've been going as hard as i can tolerate for pain

also trying to get this done asap before i get any more gray hairs.

i don't know if it does anything, but it's very satisfying as a mark of progress to gently scrape the hairs with the dull back side of a pair of scissors and watch as the hairs gradually come out one by one

not always keeping up 20 bursts per day but i'm not too far off from that goal and some days i do more. i noticed a lot more hairs fall out today which was encouraging. the pain has gotten less as things thin out and/or i've gotten better at managing it but it's still extremely painful.

really noticing the hairs falling out today. dozens coming out as i rub my cheeks and chin with my hands. i couldn't find any figures on what a typical number of facial hair follicles is, but i think at this rate i should get it down a lot in a few months on top of everything that has already cleared out

i read somewhere recently (no idea how accurate this is / the ways in which this varies) that the density of follicles is ~120 / square inch so that's about 20 per square cm so that is pretty encouraging if it holds for facial hair. i've been pretty on top of lasering routinely and i'm consistently noticing low dozens of hairs fall out every day and probably more than that fall out when i'm not looking. but one thing that is shit is how tiny cuts from shaving scab over and cover much larger areas than the initial small cut and then i can't do anything in that area until it fully heals. that's mostly an issue on my upper lip right now but i can concentrate on other areas until then. really impatient to blast off all this hair: it makes me feel like shit, it grows incredibly fast, i hate shaving and cut myself all the time, and my new electric razor is falling apart already.

ok i got a different kind of cheap electric razor (the sort with 3 circular heads) and it works much better than the piece of shit i was using before. hairs continue to fall out at a good rate, scabs fell off from shitty shaving, and the shadow is really starting to clear out. i think maybe an upside of my facial hair growing really fucking fast and being annoying as shit is that so many of the follicles are active and killable in their growth stage.

pretty fuckin great today to wake up, stroke my stubble, and watch heaps of tiny hairs come out. especially good because i had started to feel that progress was stalling

today i'm going extra hard. did 30 bursts earlier and i'm going to do another 20 soon

most areas have thinned out pretty good (~50%?) but chin remains very stubborn so i've been cycling through that area more often. i got some chin blisters from lasering yesterday which could be a good sign because last time i noticed that, the hairs under the blisters died and the skin was fine after time to recover.

i rode my bike, and got hot and sweaty, then took a shower and now a ton of hairs are falling out as i rake my face with my fingers. i think both of those probably open up the pores or something.

facial hairs are like fuckin icebergs sometimes. less than a millimeter will be poking out of the skin and then then the fucker slides out and it's like a full centimeter long.

safety razor is magical at pulling out the detached hairs. my face is full of cuts now but so many came out. and maybe i got the chin hairs down enough to destroy the follicles underneath with the zaps i just did
